INSTRUCTIONS

TOE

Using Judy’s Magic Cast On (or your preferred toe-up cast on), cast on 32 (36) stitches – 16 (18) stitches per needle (cast on fewer stitches for a narrower toe). Knit across the stitches on each needle once. On the next round, increase 4 stitches as follows:

Needle 1: K1, kfb, knit until the last two

stitches, kfb, K1

Needle 2: K1, kfb, knit until the last two

stitches, kfb, K1

Then knit a plain round (no increases)

Repeat these two rounds until you have a total of 64 (72) stitches – 32 (36) stitches on each needle.

Continue using just the two needles as is for magic loop or two circulars at a time.

If you are using DPNs separate your stitches as follows:

Needle 1 (instep): 32 (36) stitches

Needle 2 (Sole): 16 (18) stitches

Needle 3 (Sole): 16 (18) stitches

Start the Pattern:

Switch to MC. Knit 2 rounds.

Switch to CC. Knit two rounds. Cut Yarn.

Switch to MC and knit until sock measures 2 inches shorter than the desired length.

NO WRAP SHORT ROW HEEL

Put 32(36) the stitches onto the first needle and work the heel across these stitches. Switch to CC.

Slip the first stitch, knit to one stitch before the end.

Turn, slip the first stitch, purl to one stitch before the end.

Turn, slip the first stitch, knit to 2 stitches before the end.

Turn, slip the first stitch, purl to two stitches before the end.

Continue, turning, slipping the first stitch, and knitting to 3 before the end, then 4, then 5, etc. Continue until there are 14 live stitches in the center and 9 wrapped stitches at each side.

Slip the first stitch, knit to one stitch before the gap.

Slip the stitch before the gap onto the right hand needle, pick up the bar running between the gap (front to back) and put it on the right hand needle.

Knit the slipped stitch and the picked up bar together through back loop.

Slip the first stitch, and purl to one stitch before the gap.

Slip the stitch before the gap, pick up the bar running between the gap front to back, and put it on the right hand needle.

Purl the slipped stitch and the picked-up bar together.

Continue until no stitches remain.

LEG

Switch to MC and begin working in the round again. Continue to work in stockinette until the sock measures 1 ¼" from the desired length.

Switch to CC. Knit 2 rows.

Switch to MC. Knit 2 rows. Cut MC yarn.

Switch to CC. Knit one row.

Work in 1x1 rib for 1 inch.

Bind off very loosely. Weave in ends

I recommend the following bind off:

Step 1: Knit 2 stitches.

Step 2: Insert the left hand needle into the two stitches on the right hand needle.

Step 3: Knit the two stitches together through the back loop.

Step 4: Knit 1 stitch.

Repeat steps 3&4 until the end. Tie off and cut yarn.

Happy Knitting!
